Ayr & District Rambling Club, Wanlockhead and Enterkine Pass, Wanlockhead, June 8th 2024
A chilly and windy Summers day as we walk from Wanlockhead over East Mount Lowther and into the valley. We then followed the the Enterking Pass trail back up. A really enjoyable walk with plenty of variation.

Kilmarnock Ramblers Brecbowie and Loch Bradan, Stinchar Bridge, June 1st 2024
Переглядів 7621 день тому
Great weather for our walk from The Stinchar Bridge to The Nick of Brecbowie and over the hills to Loch Bradan and back to the start. Mixed terrain of Forest track, open countryside with rough ground and tussocks, and then back on a narrow hard trail back to the Forest track.

A walk from Fairlie to Largs today with a detour up to the viewing point at Douglas Park. Some ice cream at the ferry terminal before heading back to Fairlie.

The low cloud and mist clears just as we start the walk and we have a great day walking past Dumfoyn and onto the summit of Dumgoyne. Rather than walk the West highland way back we take a slightly different route which was a bit boggy in places but was nice and cool.
Ayr & District Rambling Club, Blencathra via Doddick Fell, Threlkeld , April 22nd 2024

The third and final walk of the long weekend and it's Blencathra via Doddick Fell. Another great morning out with a hard pull up Doddick Fell before the walk along the ridge and back down Blease Fell. A really good way to finish off the weekend and so glad the weather gods were with us for the three days.

The second walk of the long weekend at Keswick sees us walking up to Walla Crag and then onto Bleaberry Fell. Yet another great day out on the fells and a bonus trip to the stone circle. And finished off with a well deserved pint at the Twa Dogs.

On our Annual Spring long weekend we ventured down to the Lake District at Keswick. My first walk was this Newlands Round walk starting from Little Town. A fabulous walk with fantastic views of the surrounding fells. Definitely has to go down as one of the best walks I have ever had in the Lakes.

The forecast lets us down as the first part of the walk was wet. Thankfully it wasn't too heavy and we had the rest of the walk with some sunny intervals.

A perfect day for climbing Ben Donich from The Rest and be Thankful. The surrounding snow capped hills made it all the better.
Kilmarnock Ramblers, Black Hill of Knockgardner, Straiton, March 17th 2024

Although the hills are not overly high, the underfoot conditions made this a hard ten miler. Some light drizzly showers made it one of those jacket on, jacket off days. But it was a great day out on hills not walked a lot. Many thanks to Rick for leading.

Some unexpected snow on the top made for a great walk down at Durisdeer. Thanks to Liz Cargill for the use of some of her photos.

A short trip down to Patna as we walk out to Loch Spallander and back. 43 people on the walk as unfortunately the (A) walk had to be cancelled. Lucky with the weather as the rain held off until we had reached the cars at the end. Music. www.purple-planet.com/
Ayr & District Rambling Club, Lochlyock, Tinto and Scaut Hills, South Lanarkshire, Feb 11th 2024

Tinto with a twist this time. Instead of walking down to Howgay Mouth and climbing Locklyock we go up the side from Cleuch Reservoir. And from Tinto head across to Scaut Hill before dropping down to Kirk Burn and then head back uphill to meet the main path from Tinto at Totherin Hill. 9 miles in distance and 2325 feet of ascent made it a good but fairly hard day out.

A window of almost dry weather gives us a chance to walk the Bakers Burn and Kirkland Hill route. Windy at the summit but all in all a good day out. Music www.purple-planet.com/

On a cold but mainly bright and sunny Winters day we go to Girvan for a walk up Dow Hill, Byne Hill and Grey Hill. A great day out on the hills apart from the bitter cold wind first thing after the lunch break at the top of Grey Hill. A bit boggy in places but mainly good underfoot. Enjoyed the walk with all of you.
Lovely pics and a great presentation Denis.

Such a beautiful work my friend, this looks absolutely amazing!
Imagine my shock at seeing my house at 3.43! I planted every tree innthat picture and lived there 40 years.....- gosh A fair old walk ...the grouse road down the back helps...and then back along the railway, 10 miles and first is uphill...well done
hi is patna a nice quiet village or a bit rough to live there?
Nice work Dennis.
I been up Criffel i thought i was going to be watching a video not photos!
Sorry to disappointed you, but as you have been up Criffel then you know what it looks like.
@@DenisDuke I still like to watch to videos of Criffel though 🙄.
Love it. Thanks Denis.
Brilliant memories of a special day! Thanks Denis.
I stayed here in 2018 on a school trip and i just miss that place so much and i still remember so much and i even remember the dog i think called nelly which we all loved - stayed in the top left room and i would love to go back and see how much its changed
I went for a walk from Wanlockhead in 2021. Highest village in Scotland apparently.
That’s me Elspeth by the way….I have ditched the scooter!
Excellent shots you have really captured the essence of a great day Dennis….much appreciated and lovely to see you all.

Thanks Denis. Sorry I missed this. Do you create this on youtube, or on another programme and then upload it?
Hi Joy, I use software called Proshow Producer.
Thanks for posting...I have been fascinated by this Glasgow landmark for years...been on board a few times, but glad to see she is going back home to be restored....hoping one day to get back on board! Wanted to be there on day video is recording, but work prevented. Many many thanks for posting this historic event of her departure. 👏👍🏴😉
And very nice too Denis. Thanks for sharing.
Climbed here in march 2018 and was so misty I didn't see anything, will do it again on a better day
Not unusual to get misty days up there. I have had a few myself. I can count the number of really clear sunny days on one hand.
Denis Duke this was steamed up bathroom misty, could barely follow/see map🙁
The love the photo of my horse and you can keep it in the vidoe

If yous walked another 400yrd you would have seen the waterfall .
Deano Aitken Unfortunately I wasn't the walk leader and wasn't aware of the waterfalls at the time.
great video mate
The best view I had of golden eagles was up there. A pair circling right above me as I was headin off the hill to clennoch bothy.
Nice shots of Forth rail/road bridges good video
was just wondering where you found the directions, i would like to do this walk and have just moved to maybole
It was led by another member but I saved it as a gpx file on my garmin etrex 20 gps. If you would like a copy I can e mail you it.
Btw if you are keen on walking there are two clubs that regularly do walks around your area. One is Ayr and District Rambling Club and the other is South Ayrshire Ramblers.
The Cunninghame group are doing that walk again this weekend and after all the rain we have had this winter it will be very mucky along the Kelly Cut, as its always a lot worse than the Greenock Cut. I walked the Greenock Cut last November and that was pretty bad back then.
you do get some great views up in the cuts only done the ky cut the onces n did the greenock cut twice last year and hoping to go back up this year sometime may camp up there that some point
Great stuff. Hope he's alright.
